Signature Act
Real flame that warms an open-air night, or pixel-bright LED that paints your colors across a dark room. Fire and glow are the acts that turn the moment the sun goes down into the moment your event begins.

Fire performance is the ancient half of this act: a trained artist spins, throws and traces burning props through the dark, drawing lines of light that hang in the air a beat after the flame has passed. Poi, staff, fans and hoops become slow arcs of heat that read from across a courtyard. LED is the modern half, and it does something fire cannot. Programmable pixel-poi, LED wings, glow hoops and projection-mapped costumes turn the performer into a moving screen, capable of your exact brand colors, a shifting palette, or patterns choreographed to the beat. Together they cover the whole spectrum of after-dark spectacle, from primal warmth to precise, controllable color.
Sutra Productions stages both across Southern California for evening receptions, galas, nightlife and brand activations. Our founder, Sutra Winter, has performed for thirteen years and is a nationally recognized performer whose credits include appearing in Jason Derulo's 2024 release "Bumpa" and headlining productions for clients such as Dinner en Blanc and Unidas Films. Fire and LED are the acts we reach for when a night needs to feel electric rather than quiet: they own the dark the way our aerial work owns the air above a room.
The right choice usually comes down to the venue. Open-air spaces are made for real fire: a desert terrace, a beachfront lawn, a rooftop or a large courtyard where flame has room and air. Fire brings heat you can feel and an energy that photographs like nothing else, which is why it suits open-air receptions, deserts and late-night crowds. But many venues, and nearly every fully indoor room, restrict open flame outright. That is exactly where LED wins. Our glow and LED program delivers the same visual drama with zero open flame, so a ballroom, a museum, a tented gala or a hotel atrium can have all the movement and color with none of the fire-code friction.
You do not always have to choose. When a venue allows flame outdoors, we often run LED through the indoor portions of the evening and save real fire for an outdoor finale, giving guests two distinct visual chapters in one night. The consultation starts with your venue's fire rules, and we build the program around what the room can actually do.
The LED side is where customization goes furthest. Pixel-poi and pixel-mapped props can display sequenced imagery as they spin, so a performer can literally write your event's date, a monogram, or a sponsor's mark in the air. LED wings open into wide sheets of programmable color for grand entrances and photo moments. Projection-mapped costumes turn the artist's body into a canvas that shifts with the music. For brand activations, all of it can be tuned to your palette and logo, so the act does not just entertain, it reinforces the identity you are there to promote. That level of color control is why product launches, pop-ups and nightlife events lean toward LED even when fire is on the table.
Real fire is handled with real discipline. Every fire booking includes trained handling, a dedicated safety attendant with appropriate extinguishing equipment, fuel managed and stored to protocol, and a performance footprint mapped to keep flame clear of guests, decor and structures. Whether your venue needs open flame depends on the site and the city: some allow it with a safety plan on file, others require a permit or a fire watch from the local authority. We provide our safety protocols and the documentation your venue or fire marshal needs, and we help you confirm those requirements early rather than the week of the event. And like every act we produce, fire and LED are fully insured. Sutra Productions carries insurance and provides a certificate of insurance with additional-insured wording for your venue, usually before the venue thinks to ask.
Fire and LED rarely travel alone. Many clients open cocktail hour with a champagne aerial pour, feature aerial silks as the seated centerpiece, and then send guests into the night with an outdoor fire finale or an LED set on the dance floor. It is a natural fit for a wedding that runs long after dark, for a corporate gala or brand activation that needs a shareable signature, and for warm-weather celebrations in the Coachella Valley where open-air fire truly belongs. We are glad to design a full sequence that carries the energy from arrival to last call.

Good to Know
It depends on the venue and the city. Some venues allow open flame with a safety plan in place, while others require a fire permit or a fire watch from the local authority. We provide our safety protocols, a trained safety attendant with extinguishing equipment, and the documentation your venue or fire marshal needs, and we help you confirm the requirements well before your date.
Both. Outdoor spaces are the easiest fit for open flame. Where a venue restricts fire, or the event is fully indoors, our LED and glow program delivers the same visual drama with no open flame at all. Many clients book the LED set indoors and add real fire for an outdoor finale.
Fire brings raw heat, warmth and primal energy that suits open-air receptions, deserts and nightlife. LED brings color, precision and brand control, including pixel-mapped props and costumes that can carry your logo or palette. If your venue allows flame we often blend the two across the night. If it does not, LED covers the whole show indoors.
Yes. Sutra Productions is fully insured and we provide a certificate of insurance with additional-insured wording for your venue, usually before the venue asks.
